My Jack Straw Residency Begins!

7/23/2015

I began my Jack Straw Residency in Seattle with a weekend of recording on July 18th and 19th, with the help of sound engineer Doug Haire and guest vocalists Rani Weatherby and Rich Hinrichsen. I was able to record 6 pieces, 2  are pretty much complete, 4  are works in progress, and 5 are posted on this blog.  I am very happy with the project so far,and I am excited to see what happens next. I will be on the East Coast much of August, but I will be back in Portland this fall, and then plan to return to Seattle a few more weekends to complete the project by adding one or two new pieces, adding more voices to some of the already recorded pieces, and mixing all the layers of music and voices just right.

I originally planned a spoken word part to "Human Talk", but Rani Weatherby came up with a strong singing part that is perfect! And she did come up with an entertaining spoken word part on "Human Animal".
